Annual Events

Annual Events

Holy Trinity has a number of events that we enjoy every year. Consult the Calendar for specific dates as they are scheduled.

Blessing of the Animals

In celebration of the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, Fr. Brad conducts a blessing of the animals for the local community at the Pioneer Park Bandshell, usually on the first Sunday in October. Everyone (and of course their pets) are welcome to this fun community event!

Potluck & Silent Auction

Sharing a meal together gives us the time and opportunity to make new friends and deepen longstanding relationships. Held each autumn at Seaman’s Lodge at Pioneer Park, our annual potluck is not only a wonderful social event, but also a vital fundraiser. Our “Time & Talent” silent auction often boasts of items like artwork, singing lessons, massages, fine wine, and vacation get-aways; all donated by our parishioners. We enjoy delicious food (including desserts!) and wine or beer while we join in fellowship and out-bidding each other.

Chili Challenge Cookoff

Holy Trinity parish is home to the world’s most creative chili contest. Anyone within the western United States is eligible to compete. This is NOT one of those painful Hottest Chili battles–ours is a contest designed for everyone’s enjoyment. There is only one simple rule which all entrants must follow: The entry’s name must contain the word “chili”. Voting for the winner is done under the strictest supervision of ballot-counters.

Money from the event has gone to keep the church landscaping in good repair. Be sure to participate. We have regularly enjoyed excellent weather, silliness, great crowds, and delicious food.

Advent Dinner

The annual all-church Advent Dinner is a gala occasion held at a local banquet facility. Each year, it is dedicated to one of the parishioners to honor his or her long-term service and commitment to Trinity Church. It takes place on (or around) the first Sunday of Advent every year.

Christmas Pageant

Holy Trinity offers a Christmas Eve family service for anyone in the community. The service includes a pageant that is performed by children.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

Tentatively scheduled for January 2022, this is a bi-annual event, led by Fr. Brad Helmuth and Fr. Seth Kellermann of Emmanuel Church, Grass Valley.

A guided tour of the Holy Land includes the Mediterranean Coast, Galilee, and Jerusalem, and is approximately 10 days in duration.
