Compline is the final short chanted prayer service of the Monastic Day; a soothing late good night to God and hope for a better tomorrow.
Lent is the 40-day season of preparation and interior reflection before the celebrations of Easter. The only illumination is our 110-candle array around the Nave to enhance the ambiance. There is no accompaniment, save some wayward handbells. The music sets the mood for Lent; echoes from centuries past with an abundance of plainsong and Gregorian Chant; and a variety of harmonized music. There is no sermon; no offering; little participation; only quiet reflection and the choir singing unseen from the loft. Join us during this season of humility and bring a friend who needs this sonic repast.
